Sammie is an Accredited Practising Dietitian with over seven years of diverse experience across a range of healthcare settings.

Her career began in private practice before joining a telephone coaching service at St Vincent’s Hospital, supporting individuals to reduce their risk of heart disease and diabetes through sustainable lifestyle changes. Sammie went on to work in a rehabilitation hospital for more than four years, further expanding her clinical expertise before joining Diabetes Victoria, where she has been helping people manage diabetes for the past two years.

Sammie takes a compassionate and holistic approach to care. She understands that managing diabetes can feel overwhelming at times, and her goal is to help clients make sense of the information, feel supported, and make meaningful changes that last.

Rather than focusing on rigid rules or diets, Sammie works in partnership with her clients to develop realistic and personalised strategies that fit into their lifestyle. She supports clients in understanding the ‘why’ behind nutrition choices and focuses on progress, not perfection.

Sammie is an accredited OzDAFNE (Dose Adjustment for Normal Eating) facilitator, a self-management program for people with type 1 diabetes where she teaches comprehensive carbohydrate counting. She is also an accredited DESMOND (Diabetes Education for Ongoing and Newly Diagnosed) facilitator, a group education program for people living with type 2 diabetes.

Outside of work, Sammie enjoys pilates, discovering great coffee spots, spending time with her fiancé, and cheering on her team at the footy.
