Timothy Skinner
Timothy trained in the UK, at the University of Westminster and the University of Surrey, becoming a Chartered Health Psychologist in 2000. He worked part-time with Portsmouth and Ipswich Diabetes Centres, before working as a full-time Diabetes Psychologist at Leicester Diabetes Service.
He moved to Australia in 2007, and has worked in diverse rural and remote contexts, including a time as the Psychologist for North West Tasmania Diabetes Centre. He also spent a couple of years working at the Steno Diabetes Centre in Copenhagen. He is recognised as an international leader for his research on the psycho-social aspects of diabetes and is a member of the Australian Centre for Behavioural Research in Diabetes. He uses a range of approaches in his clinical work including CBT, ACT, mindfulness and somatic/embodied therapies.
His clients report him to be deeply empathic, a respectful teacher and curious therapist.
When not at work, I enjoy sitting with my curiosity and exploring the human experience in all its colours. I enjoy woodwork, making traditional Windsor chair style furniture.
